Equity Partners, the Asian buyout firm that broke away from UBS Group AG, has sold $4.4 billion in assets over the past three years, returning nearly a fifth of its portfolio value to investors each year after overhauling its strategy and senior ranks, according to a document seen by Bloomberg News.

After years of slower distributions and investments, Affinity at the end of 2023 reset and reversed a 2019 to 2021 foray into new-economy and growth companies ahead of its Fund VI debut, the person said.

Since revamp, Affinity has deployed $2.2 billion of equity across four deals that included gaining control of target firms, the document showed, concentrating on a focused footprint in Korea, Australia and Southeast Asia.

Affinity pivoted away from minority deals to focus on buyouts three years ago following the exit of three senior partners, including founding members YT Park, CJ Lee and Korea head Sam Lee.
