Asia’s public markets are enjoying a slew of measures from regulators, offering support they haven’t had for many years, Millennium Management’s regional co-CEO Julia Raiskin said.

Eager to use capital markets to create wealth for an aging demographic, regulators across the region are using means such as taxation, talent development, increasing market liquidity and public listings, she said at the Women Chief Executives Summit 2026 in Hong Kong on Monday.

“Asia has always had great companies and it’s always had great talent,” said Raiskin, a former Citigroup Inc. executive who has worked in the region for about two decades. “It’s a great moment where you get a lot of tailwind from regulators” for public markets.

The region is also blessed with multiple pools of wealth that are ready to engage with capital markets, whether it’s wealth passed on from earlier generations or that from entrepreneurship, she added.

A $95 billion hedge fund giant, Millennium has myriad of pods that invest through a variety of strategies, including equity long-short, arbitrage and volatility. Of late, it has invested heavily in commodities trading, a newer market for the firm, Raiskin said. Asia is at the forefront of its build-out of quantitative trading capabilities.

Millennium’s investment teams were the first within the company to deploy artificial intelligence, both proprietary and large language models, to process data and make decisions faster, she said. Since then, the behemoth has integrated AI into idea generation, risk management, hiring and talent development, as well as compliance, she added.
