Holdings Co. shares rallied the most in 18 years after Farallon Capital Management LLC, one of the most prolific activist funds in Japan, reported a stake in the Japanese company and called for a management shakeup.

Shares of the country’s biggest delivery company soared as much as 15% in Tokyo. Farallon on Monday disclosed a stake of just over 5% and urged Chairman Yutaka Nagao to resign from the board so the company can undergo “bold” management reforms. It also called for the company’s board members other than President Toshiyuki Sakurai to be outside directors. Japan’s stock market was shut Tuesday for a holiday.
