Türkiye said Friday that a French-flagged vessel was planning to conduct unauthorized marine scientific research on its continental shelf in the Eastern Mediterranean, stressing that the required consent process had not yet been completed.
土耳其外交部在一份书面声明中说，该船只意图在土耳其大陆架上实施与铺设电缆活动有关的“非法”海洋科学研究，该大陆架的外部界限已于2020年3月18日通知联合国。
In a written statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the vessel intended to carry out “unlawful” marine scientific research related to cable-laying activities within Türkiye’s continental shelf, whose outer limits were notified to the UN on March 18, 2020.
声明称，土耳其已取消希腊和希腊塞浦路斯当局就该计划活动发布的未经授权的航行警告。
The ministry said Türkiye had canceled unauthorized navigational warnings issued by Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration in connection with the planned activities.
声明强调，根据既定的国际海洋法原则，对于计划活动中落在其大陆架范围内的部分，取得土耳其同意的程序尚未完成。
It stressed that the process for obtaining Türkiye’s consent, as required under established principles of international maritime law, had not yet been completed for the portion of the planned activities falling within its continental shelf.
“土耳其依然全力维护其依据国际法享有的主权权利，”外交部表示，并补充说安卡拉将继续在该地区坚持基于合作、对话与协调的方针。
“Türkiye remains fully determined to protect its sovereign rights arising from international law,” the ministry said, adding that Ankara would continue to pursue an approach based on cooperation, dialogue and coordination in the region.
