Sudan on Monday called for an end to foreign interference and urged the disarmament of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

“Foreign interference must end, and the terrorist militia (RSF) must be dismantled and disarmed to achieve stability in the country,” Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem said in a speech at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Sudan's Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan was scheduled to address the assembly on Monday, but the US "prevented this by not issuing him an entry visa," Salem said, calling for an investigation into Washington's refusal to allow al-Burhan to participate in the UN General Assembly.

Sudan has been engulfed in a war between the army and the RSF since April 2023 that has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced around 13 million, according to UN and international estimates.
