Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed conservative commentator Tucker Carlson for a recent podcast appearance during which the former Fox News host questioned whether the United Kingdom “benefited” from its involvement in the second World War.

“Yes, Tucker, the UK is better off for winning WWII,” Cruz responded to the clip in a Friday night post to social platform He continued, “America is better off for winning World War II. And the world would be much worse off if the Nazis had won WWII. This is not complicated.”Carlson’s comments came during his interview with former U.K. conservative lawmaker Jacob Rees-Mogg, where the commentator made several controversial claims about WWII.
