Bangladesh on Sunday strongly condemned last week’s drone attack on a power station in the Saudi city of Medina that has been blamed on Houthis.

In a statement, Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry said the “deliberate targeting of vital civilian infrastructure that serves the Prophet's Mosque is an unacceptable assault on the sanctity of Islam's holiest sites.”Blaming the Houthis for the attack, the statement said Bangladesh stands in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in defending its security and sovereignty.

The South Asian country said it “firmly rejects any act of aggression that harms regional peace and stability.”Last week the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen blamed the Houthis for a Tuesday drone attack on an electricity distribution station in the holy city.

The facility provides power to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. The attack knocked one transformer out of service but did not affect the wider electricity grid, it added.
