Sanpaolo said its sweetened offer for Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has won the backing of the bank’s biggest shareholder, Delfin Sarl, bringing it a step closer to victory in the Italian takeover battle.
据裕信银行周日发表的一份声明，意大利德尔·韦基奥家族旗下控股公司Delfin的董事会将支持裕信银行的要约收购，Delfin持有Paschi 17.6%的股份。
The board of Delfin, the holding company for Italy’s Del Vecchio family, will support Intesa’s tender offer with its 17.6% stake in Paschi, according to a statement from Intesa Sunday.
Delfin representatives未能立即就此事置评。
Representatives for Delfin weren’t immediately available for a comment.
此前，裕信银行在周末宣布，将把收购Paschi要约中的现金对价每股提高25欧分。
The move follows Intesa’s announcement over the weekend that it would sweeten the cash component of its offer for Paschi by 25 cents per share.
该要约的条件是，Paschi股东须否决首席执行官Luigi Lovaglio收购另外两家意大利同业的替代计划。
The offer was conditioned on Paschi shareholders rejecting Chief Executive Officer Luigi Lovaglio’s alternative plan to buy two Italian rivals.

If Paschi shareholders back Lovaglio’s bids for Banco BPM SpA and Banca Generali SpA at an Oct. 29 meeting, Intesa has vowed to withdraw its offer to buy Paschi.
裕信银行称，Delfin同意在Paschi的会议上“以符合截至当日要约条件的方式”投票。
Intesa said that Delfin agreed to vote at Paschi’s meeting “in a manner consistent with the conditions of the Offer as at that date.”
要继续推进其计划，Lovaglio需要获得10月29日会议上至少三分之二表决权的支持。
To continue pursuing his plan, Lovaglio needs support from at least two thirds of the votes at the Oct. 29 meeting.
仍持有Paschi约5%股份的意大利政府已表示，不打算介入该银行的未来事务。
The government, which still owns about 5% of Paschi, has signaled it doesn’t intend to intervene in the bank’s future.
