Our daughter Christa Bauer Gilley was murdered in Houston on Oct. 7, 2024. She was nine weeks pregnant. Her husband, Lee Gilley, told police Christa had committed suicide, but police said he later admitted she wasn’t suicidal and that only he, Christa and their two small children were home that night.

According to prosecutors, police detectives found that Lee and Christa had an argument over a new car, and that Lee had sought to have affairs. An autopsy found Christa had black eyes, extensive hemorrhaging and other trauma consistent with strangulation. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
