Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Thursday that negotiations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on a South China Sea Code of Conduct (CoC) were making progress despite persistent disagreements.

“We’re working very, very hard, we’re making good progress as a matter of fact, in terms of the code of conduct,” Marcos told the 24th Forbes Global CEO Conference in Singapore, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
他也承认谈判面临诸多困难，甚至连一些常用词汇的定义都引发了争议。
He acknowledged difficulties in the negotiations, saying even the definitions of ordinary words had become contentious.
马科斯表示：“我最担心的是，某些海员或士兵出现失误，而这种失误可能引发不可控的局面。”
“My greatest fear is that some seaman, some soldier just makes a mistake, and that mistake turns into something that goes out of control,” he said.
马科斯于周三抵达新加坡，展开为期五天的访问，旨在加强双边经济合作并吸引对新兴产业的投资。
Marcos arrived in Singapore on Wednesday for a five-day visit aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and attracting investment in emerging industries.
