Quantum computing, healthcare and energy security are the fields Nvidia wants to strengthen with commitments it values at $1 billion. The money will be spread over the next five years.

The company announced the commitments on Thursday at the Science: A New Golden Age event in Washington, DC. US officials, industry leaders and members of the science community attended.

The Nvidia $1 billion has three uses. It will support university research and fund US quantum computing. It will also back cloud providers that serve government needs. Nvidia does not say how the money splits between them.

This is how America turns scientific leadership into industrial leadership, and innovation into jobs and opportunity for generations.”

Phase 2 of the Genesis Mission Nvidia said the US Office of Science and Technology Policy marked the expansion of the Genesis Mission at the event. The Energy Department leads the programme, which an executive order set up in November 2025. Nvidia calls itself a leading industry partner.

Nvidia also collaborates on a number of the phase 2 Genesis Mission awards announced there. The projects include quantum computing, fusion, accelerator design and microelectronics. The company has invited members of the science community to collaborate on research using its compute and “super intelligence infrastructure”.

Two decades with the national labs Nvidia says it has worked with US national labs for more than two decades. Its Genesis Mission partnership with the Department of Energy was announced last year. It includes building the department’s largest supercomputer for scientific research at Argonne National Laboratory. Nvidia also supports seven new systems at Argonne and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
