Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Thursday that she is creating an interagency working group to address the spread of harmful content online.

“I am forming a working group to demand that digital platforms remove content as soon as they identify statements or actions that incite violence, abuse or harassment,” Sheinbaum said at her daily news conference, referring to websites and social media platforms.
她表示，该工作组将包括来自安全与公民保护部、数字转型局以及学术机构的代表和专家。
She said the group will include representatives from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the Digital Transformation Agency and academic institutions as well as experts.

Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch said the group will work on a decree establishing obligations for digital platforms.

The initiative is expected to be developed next week and will seek to strengthen the detection, reporting and timely removal of content that directly incites violence.

It would also establish mechanisms for early-stage risk identification, socio-emotional counseling and mental health support directly tailored for adolescents and young people while involving parents, educators and other adults.
辛鲍姆表示，政府近年来已经识别出三四起类似事件，这凸显了针对与网络内容相关的暴力采取预防措施的必要性。
Sheinbaum said the government has identified three or four similar incidents in recent years, highlighting the need for preventive measures against violence linked to online content.
此前，北部科阿韦拉州托雷安的一所中学于10月1日发生了一起袭击事件。据当局称，两名曾是该校学生的18岁兄弟手持大砍刀闯入学校，造成一名教师死亡、另外四人受伤。
The announcement came after an attack on Oct. 1 at a secondary school in Torreon in the northern state of Coahuila. Two 18-year-old brothers who were former students at the school entered the facility armed with machetes, killing a teacher and injuring four other people, according to authorities.
