The South African-born jurist and former U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay, who is currently an ad hoc judge at the International Court of Justice, won the award on Friday for her efforts to promote peace and international law.

The firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed, the Pentagon said Thursday.

Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others in a shooting at the military base in 2009. Known in Spanish as a quejío, the cry is a hallmark of flamenco. A raw, intense expression, sometimes almost guttural. In those fleeting moments, the singers’ faces were bathed in light and their quejíos were captured by AP photographers.
