LONDON/TOKYO -- Registrations for internet domains ending in .si have surged worldwide after U.S. President Donald Trump called for artificial intelligence to be rebranded as "super intelligence." When Trump made the appeal last month, registrations jumped to four times the previous day's level, according to a domain registry operator. Daily registrations exceeded 10,000 on Sept. 30, the day after he signed an executive order related to the initiative. Many are believed to be intended for resale, creating potential challenges for companies seeking to protect their brands online.

A newly created public-private coordination body was named the Super Intelligence Force.
