A tanker caught fire after sustaining damage while sailing east of the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, according to the Iranian Navy. The navy’s public relations office said in a statement that monitoring teams detected the tanker around midday after it switched off its tracking systems and attempted to pass through a “restricted area.”The statement did not specify what caused the damage or fire, identify the vessel, or provide information about the crew or possible casualties.
