The crash occurred in a wooded area in the town of Dellona, the Sauk County sheriff said in a statement. A plane with six people on board crashed in rural central Wisconsin on Tuesday night, leaving no survivors, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area in the town of Dellona, west of Wisconsin Dells, a popular tourist destination. Dellona is about 40 miles northwest of Madison, Wisconsin’s capital.

Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister said the crash killed five adults and one child, according to a Madison television station. Efforts to reach Meister were not immediately successful.
