The UN Security Council on Wednesday adopted a resolution renewing the sanctions regime on Haiti for one year, including an arms embargo, a travel ban and an assets freeze.
该决议草案以14票赞成的结果获得通过，俄罗斯则投了弃权票。决议还决定将协助海地制裁委员会的专家小组任期延长13个月。
The draft resolution passed with 14 votes, while Russia abstained. The text also extends the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the Haiti sanctions committee for 13 months.

US Deputy Permanent Representative Jennifer Locetta said the decision sent a strong message of support for Haitians. "Today’s vote is yet another unwavering signal that the international community stands with the people of Haiti," said Locetta.

She said the arms embargo does not apply to the sale, supply or transfer of arms or related materiel, or to related assistance and training, for the Haitian government when intended to further peace and security objectives.

Panama's UN envoy Eloy Alfaro de Alba said the international community’s responsibility does not end with the adoption of the resolution. He stressed that the crisis has many facets and requires sustained attention from the council and member states.

Haiti has been grappling with gang violence and political instability for years, and the sanctions regime is one of the tools the council uses to address the crisis.
