Treasuries rallied across the curve as a global equities selloff spurred demand for haven assets. Yields on benchmark 10-year US government debt fell four basis points to 5.14% in early Asia trading Thursday. Those on policy-sensitive two-year notes also declined, and yields on 30-year debt — which until recently has been sold off heavily due to inflation and fiscal concerns — also fell.

“The market has finally moved back to the old flight to quality, buy sovereign debt on equity selloffs,” said Kit Lowe, a senior analyst at ITC Markets.

Treasuries extended Wednesday’s gains which came after a stock-market slump revived demand for bonds following a hotter-than-expected US inflation print. Several money managers including Pacific Investment Management Co. have advocated for increased exposure to bonds after the recent selloff.
