Mauritius has extended a curfew for a further three nights, after the Indian Ocean island nation witnessed the worst unrest since 1999.

The hours of the curfew have been shortened and the measure will be implemented from 10 p.m. until 4:30 a.m., the government said in a statement on Friday. The curfew, which has already been in place for the last three nights, had previously begun at 8:30 p.m. and ended at 5 a.m. or 6 a.m.
