Tigray rebels on Tuesday claimed to have killed more than 1,500 Ethiopian soldiers in two days of fighting in the country's northern Tigray region.

The claim came as Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed warned neighboring Eritrea of severe consequences for allegedly supporting armed groups fighting his government.
