Argentina's government has spent roughly $445 million on weapons, military and security equipment since President Javier Milei took office in December 2023, an analysis by the newspaper Infobae found. The figure, compiled from official procurement records through August 2026, already exceeds the totals recorded during the full terms of predecessors Alberto Fernández and Mauricio Macri.

Argentina has spent about US$445 million on weapons, military hardware and security equipment since President Javier Milei took office in December 2023, according to an analysis by the newspaper Infobae based on the state's official procurement system and agreements signed with other governments. The total covers purchases made through August 2026. The figure already surpasses the amounts spent on military and security procurement during the full terms of Milei's two immediate predecessors, Alberto Fernández and Mauricio Macri, Infobae's analysis found.

Milei has pushed to modernize Argentina's armed forces since taking office, including new agreements with foreign suppliers for equipment and hardware. The spending comes as Milei's government has pursued closer security and defence ties with the United States and other allies, alongside a broader push to overhaul Argentina's finances. Details of individual contracts and suppliers involved in the purchases have not been fully disclosed.
