The loan being sought by Dubai’s biggest bank by assets has a base amount of $500 million and comes with an option of increasing it by another $500 million, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private information. Mizuho Bank Ltd. is the underwriter on the facility, which has five- and seven-year tenors, they said. Proceeds will be used for working capital and general corporate purposes, the people said. Representatives for Emirates NBD and Mizuho did not respond to requests for comment. The planned borrowing follows a string of financing secured by major Middle Eastern firms from Asian lenders in recent months, including $2.5 billion for Qatar National Bank, $300 million for Boubyan Bank and $3 billion for QatarEnergy.
