A power surge at Stansted Airport has caused hundreds of flights to be delayed.

Passengers at the airport in Essex have been left queuing for hours after a power surge caused security and baggage systems to go down.

Some 250 flights were delayed on Sunday, with six cancelled, according to flight tracking data from Flightradar24.

Stansted Airport said all their systems were operational again by the evening and apologised to travellers affected.

A spokesperson for the airport added: "Due to a power surge earlier today that affected the airport and local area, a number of airport systems were temporarily impacted.
