A woman was sexually assaulted at knifepoint in Central Park over the weekend, police said. A man approached the 39-year-old victim near East 66th and 5th Avenue on Saturday evening, displayed a knife and sexually assaulted her, according to the New York City Police Department. Police were called around 9:30 p.m. and the victim was taken to a local area hospital. She is in stable condition. Police have not release a description of the suspect. No arrests have been made and am investigation is ongoing.

The perpetrator remains at large, but I have confidence that the NYPD will work swiftly to apprehend him and bring him to justice.”

The assault is the latest attack to unfold in Central Park. Last week, a woman riding her bicycle through the park in the evening was attacked by three men, NBC New York reported. The men hit her in the head, and she fought back, she told police. One of them grabbed her bag before they fled. She suffered minor injuries to her face, neck and back.
