Demand for natural gas turbines is outpacing manufacturing capacity, leading to increased wait times, according to one of the world’s top makers of the power generation equipment.
三菱动力亚太私人有限公司首席执行官音藤昭宏周二在新加坡国际能源周间隙表示：“我们谈论的是大约2031年的交付。”
“We’re talking about delivery at around 2031,” Akihiro Ondo, chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., said on the sidelines of the Singapore International Energy Week on Tuesday.
音藤表示，2028年和2029年的交付档期几乎已经排满。三菱动力的母公司三菱重工业株式会社曾在2025年表示，其目标是在两年内将产能翻倍。
Slots for 2028 and 2029 delivery are almost full, Ondo said. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., the parent company of Mitsubishi Power, said in 2025 that it aimed to double production capacity within two years.

Global demand for gas power plants has surged along with a boom in data centers, manufacturing and a shift toward electrification — leaving producers including Mitsubishi, GE Vernova Inc. and Siemens Energy AG struggling to keep pace. The fossil fuel is seen as a cleaner alternative to coal that can provide backup electricity when wind and solar generation fluctuate.

The longer wait times illustrate that demand for natural gas remains strong, despite a jump in global benchmark prices to a four-year high as the war in the Middle East curbs supply from the Persian Gulf. Despite the disruption, demand for gas “will be continuously growing,” Ondo said.

New global orders for this year are projected to hover around 70 to 80 gigawatts, a lot higher than average, according to Ondo. Most of the demand is still from North America, but interest from Asia is increasing, he said.
在亚洲范围内，音藤表示，他认为最大的机遇在东南亚，尤其是马来西亚和新加坡，因为人工智能相关的需求推高了对燃气轮机的需求。
Within Asia, Ondo said he sees the biggest opportunities in Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia and Singapore, as artificial intelligence-related demand drives up appetite for gas turbines.
