TOKYO -- Japanese technology company Upbond has developed an electronic wallet system that will let foreign tourists in the country receive refunds from tax-free shopping in JPYC, a yen-denominated stablecoin.
Upbond周日推出该系统，该系统是与应用运营商Japan Tax Free合作开发的，届时日本免税购物程序将发生变化。从11月1日起，游客将在出境时经海关核实后，获得已缴适用税款的退税。根据现行规则，符合条件的商品在购买时即免税。
Upbond debuts the system, created through a partnership with app operator Japan Tax Free, on Sunday, when Japan's procedures for tax-free purchases are set to change As of Nov. 1, tourists will receive refunds for applicable taxes paid after verification at customs when leaving the country. Under the current rules, eligible goods are exempted from taxes at the point of purchase.
游客可以选择通过信用卡或在机场以现金方式接收退税。但信用卡退税可能需要数周才能处理完毕，而现金退税将以日元支付，对于即将离境的旅客来说不太方便。
Visitors can choose to receive refunds via credit card or in cash at the airport. But credit card refunds can take weeks to process and cash refunds will be paid in yen, making them inconvenient for travelers about to leave the country.
Upbond的系统将允许在核实和交叉核对后的几天内以JPYC方式退税。
Upbond's system will allow for refunds in JPYC within a few days after verification and cross-checking.
Upbond将税务退税视为日元稳定币在旅行和购物领域应用的切入点。该钱包开发商计划最终将税务退税功能添加到其代理钱包中，该钱包提供基于聊天的旅行手续支持。
Upbond sees tax refunds as an entry point for the use of yen-denominated stablecoins in travel and shopping. The wallet developer plans eventually to add a tax refund feature to its agentic wallet, which provides chat-based travel procedure support.
