Amazon CEO Downplays Outside AI Shopping Agents After Blocking Meta's Muse Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said on Thursday during the company's third-quarter earnings call with analysts that outside AI shopping agents pose little threat because few customers use them and the experience is still not great, nor more convenient than shopping directly.

The remarks came about a month after Amazon blocked Meta Platforms' Muse assistant in September for violating customer conditions of use. Jassy said outside agents did not cause weaker-than-expected third-quarter advertising performance. He promoted Amazon's own Alexa for shopping, citing 400 million users in the last year, 570% growth in interactions, and 50% higher order spend in the U.S.
