World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday that escalating violence in northern Ethiopia is pushing the region's health system toward collapse. He said drone strikes over the weekend killed and wounded civilians while further damaging medical infrastructure already weakened by years of conflict.
The warning comes as fighting has resumed in Ethiopia's Tigray region in recent weeks, straining hospitals and clinics that were already running short of medicine, fuel and trained staff. Aid workers say repeated disruption to supply routes has left some facilities unable to treat growing numbers of wounded patients.
