Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Tuesday that another round of Russia-US-Ukraine talks will take place Nov. 10-11 in the United Arab Emirates, and he expects it will pave the way for a meeting at the highest level. Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s priorities at the talks would include energy and other critical infrastructure, grain and humanitarian exchanges.
"It is precisely this format (leaders), precisely at the level of leaders, that can resolve the key issues in order to achieve long-term peace and guaranteed security.
We are coordinating very concretely with Germany and with other European countries on the main points of the negotiations. Europe is in the process. This is essential," he said at a news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, broadcast live on his Telegram channel. He said Kyiv would like to discuss possible options for an exchange in the "all-for-all" format.
The US also wants to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine and the “Prosperity Plan,” a package of economic documents, he added. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Tuesday that the talks would take place in Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the invitation to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zelenskyy said he was not inviting the Russian leader to Kyiv.
"We are not inviting Putin to come to Kyiv, firstly because in 2022 they came to us without an invitation. I think there is no point in inviting Putin to Kyiv, because they will not come," he noted.
Asked about a possible phone call with the Russian leader, Zelenskyy said he expected it to be “very official and dry.”"It will be a very official and dry phone conversation, in which I will once again listen to a historical lecture from the President of the Russian Federation," he said.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said that Putin had “not once refused talks” with Zelenskyy and that the Ukrainian leader could travel to Moscow if he wanted to meet him.
