Italy’s president said Friday that Europe must take on greater international responsibilities as it faces mounting conflicts and crises, Italian news agency ANSA reported.

“There is no doubt that Europe today stands at a new crossroads in its history and must choose to assume greater responsibilities in international life,” Sergio Mattarella said during a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Nizami Ganjavi Foundation, a cultural group based in Azerbaijan.
