Kimberly Guilfoyle, the embattled U.S. ambassador to Greece, said Tuesday that serving in the role “has been the honor of a lifetime” after the White House announced she had been asked to resign.

White House press secretary Katie Zacharia shared at her inaugural press briefing that the Trump administration asked Guilfoyle to resign after several reports alleging misconduct, including asking a GOP donor to pay off a credit card bill.

Guilfoyle said that recent allegations against her “are false and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.”

Reports had indicated that Trump and Rubio were annoyed over the allegations and were weighing how much longer she would last in the position.
