South African President Jacob Zuma has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing “a routine medical checkup,” his party said.

Zuma, 84, was admitted to the hospital in the eastern town of Pietermaritzburg on Oct. 6. The state of his health raised questions about the extent to which he would be able to campaign ahead of municipal elections scheduled for Nov. 4.

Zuma’s was diagnosed with fatigue and it was recommended that he rest, his uMkhonto weSizwe Party, or MKP, said in a statement on Saturday. He had taken the necessary time to recuperate under the care of his doctors, and was now healthy and had returned home and resumed work, it added.
祖马曾领导南非近九年，期间丑闻不断，2018年在面临弹劾威胁下被迫下台。
Zuma led South Africa for almost nine scandal-marred years, before being forced from office in 2018 under threat of impeachment.
