China's domestically developed satellite internet has connected the Arctic, Antarctica and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for the first time, state media reported Monday.
中国第16次北极海洋考察队表示，其极地破冰船“极地号”已在北极航运航道完成卫星互联网系统的预运行测试，据北京新华社报道。考察队称该测试封闭了全球最后一个通信覆盖空白。
China's 16th Arctic Ocean expedition team said that its polar icebreaker Jidi has completed a pre-operational test of the satellite internet system along Arctic shipping routes, according to Beijing-based Xinhua News Agency. The expedition team said the test closed the world's last communications coverage gap.
在航行期间，考察队首次验证了北极、南极和青藏高原（也被称为地球的“第三极”）之间的网络通信，报道称。此次考察由中国自然资源部组织。
During the voyage, the team verified network communications across the Arctic, Antarctica and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, also known as Earth's "Third Pole," for the first time, the report said. China's Ministry of Natural Resources organized the expedition.
