Diesel prices are higher than anyone wants right now and the US is working with refiners to seek ways to produce more, US Energy Department official Kyle Haustveit told a conference on Tuesday.

"We are working with our friends... to find new and innovative ways to get more throughput" of the fuel through refineries, said Energy Department Under Secretary Haustveit at the Drake Forum in Titusville, Pennsylvania. He said the Trump administration was also working with "friends and allies" on releasing diesel and worked with Europe to release another 50 million barrels of the fuel, which has shot higher on disruptions from the wars in Iran and Ukraine.
