A 26-year-old man has been charged after a woman was stabbed to death in a Manchester street. Alisha Samuels, 26, was found with serious stab wounds by officers who were called to reports of a "disturbance" in Dorking Avenue at around 2am on Thursday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, Greater Manchester Police said.

Lawrence Johnson has been charged with murder and attempted murder on Tuesday.

Police said the charges relate to the death of Ms Samuels and the attempted murder of a man in Dorking Avenue on Thursday.

A 25-year-old man was previously arrested, but police said on Friday he is "no longer being treated as a suspect for murder". He has since been released on police bail.
