A 65-year-old woman has died of Ebola in Kenya, becoming the second confirmed fatality in the country's current outbreak, health authorities said. She was a close family member of the first person to die, a man who had travelled into Kenya from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The outbreak traces back to an ongoing Ebola flare-up in the Democratic Republic of Congo that has already spread across several provinces there and crossed into neighbouring countries in recent weeks. Kenyan health officials have been tracing contacts of confirmed cases since the virus was first detected domestically, and regional health bodies have warned that cross-border movement makes containment difficult.

Authorities are expanding monitoring of travellers and contacts following the second death, and public health officials have urged communities near the affected areas to report symptoms early. The World Health Organization and regional partners continue to support surveillance efforts as the outbreak's trajectory remains closely watched.
