Net income was 14.9 billion rupees ($157 million) for the three months ended Sept. 30, according to an exchange filing Wednesday. While that is 55% lower than the year-ago profit, the performance marks a return to black after the company had reported a rare loss of 11.6 billion rupees in the previous quarter amid costs linked to settlement of US legal cases.

The conglomerate accelerated its growth plans after resolving its legal troubles in the US. In May, the Department of Justice dropped criminal bribery charges against Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, after they agreed to pay $18 million to settle a parallel civil fraud case there. Separately, Adani Enterprises paid $275 million to resolve a sanctions probe by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Neither the executives nor the company admitted wrongdoing.
