HONG KONG, Oct 29 : The Hong Kong Monetary Authority left its base interest rate unchanged on Thursday at 4.25 per cent, following the US Federal Reserve's decision to hold rates steady.
由于香港货币与美元挂钩，兑换区间严格限制在7.75至7.85港元兑1美元，香港的货币政策与美国同步变动。港元最近报7.8452港元兑1美元。
Hong Kong's monetary policy moves in lock-step with the United States as the city's currency is pegged to the greenback in a tight range of 7.75-7.85 per dollar. The Hong Kong dollar was last at 7.8452 per dollar.
金管局在声明中表示：“美国利率调整存在相当大的不确定性，将取决于通胀、劳动力市场及其他经济数据的发展，并可能影响香港的利率环境。”
"US interest rate adjustments are subject to considerable uncertainty, and will depend on developments in inflation, labour market, and other economic data, and may influence the interest rate environment in Hong Kong," HKMA said in a statement.
声明补充称，港元及银行同业拆息的前景可能因多种因素而异，例如市场对套息交易的风险偏好，以及港元的供求状况，后者又受资本市场活动及其他季节性因素影响。
The outlook for the Hong Kong dollar and interbank rates can vary due to various factors, such as the market's risk appetite for carry trades, and the supply-demand conditions for Hong Kong dollars which are, in turn, influenced by capital market activities and other seasonal factors, it added.
