Abdul El-Sayed offered barbed support for President Trump's Election Day announcement that the U.S. would phase out billions of dollars in aid to Israel.
“Even a broken clock can be right twice a day,” the Michigan Democratic Senate candidate told reporters after meeting with voters at a polling site in Ann Arbor. He declined to answer if he believed Trump's move was a genuine shift in policy or a political maneuver given the timing of the announcement coinciding with Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Earlier in the day, Trump specifically mentioned El-Sayed and how he and other candidates have made ending U.S. aid to Israel a key issue in their campaigns. “The left uses the $4 billion payment…as a signal of unfairness,” Trump said. “It’s almost too easy a target.”
