The Rev. Frederick Haynes III, a Dallas pastor and Democratic House candidate, is projected to win Texas’s 30th District to replace outgoing Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), according to preliminary results from Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ).

Haynes won what the Cook Political Report called a solid Democrat seat, defeating Republican Everett Jackson. Haynes previously won the March 3 Democratic primary by a wide margin, receiving 72.62 percent of the vote, data from DDHQ shows.

Haynes is the lead pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, which has 13,000 members. In February 2024, the pastor replaced the Rev. Jesse Jackson to lead the Rainbow PUSH Coalition (RPC), the human rights group founded by Jackson in 1971. Haynes resigned three months later, stating that he remained “committed to honoring the rich history of RPC” and the pursuit of social justice.
