GENEVA, Oct 9 - The United Nations human rights office on Friday welcomed the news of Navi Pillay's Nobel Peace Prize win, acknowledging her longstanding advocacy for human rights.

"It is amazing news, we need more dedication and commitment to human rights," Shabia Mantoo, spokesperson for the UN human rights office, told reporters in Geneva.
纳维·皮莱曾担任联合国巴勒斯坦被占领土问题调查委员会主席，也是国际刑事法院的前任法官。
Navi Pillay was the former head of the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and a former International Criminal Court judge.
去年9月，皮莱主持发布了联合国调查委员会的一份报告，报告认定以色列在加沙实施了种族灭绝行为，包括总理本雅明·内塔尼亚胡在内的以色列高层官员也煽动了这些行为。对此，以色列方面称这些指控毫无根据且荒谬至极。
In September last year Pillay oversaw the publishing of a report by the UN Commission of Inquiry that concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza and that top Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu incited these acts - accusations that Israel called scandalous.
曼图在谈及皮莱获奖时表示：“我们希望这一荣誉能激励更多人站出来，为全世界所有人的人权保护与促进发声。”
"We hope it will encourage and continue to encourage and inspire others to speak out in protection and promotion of the human rights of all people around the world," Mantoo said in reaction to Pillay's win.
