Russian tech giant Yandex has become a new target for Ukraine’s military, with a second day of attacks on its largest data centers disrupting some services.

Infrastructure in Kaluga, roughly 150 kilometers (95 miles) southwest of Moscow, was damaged in a drone strike that knocked several modules offline, Yandex was cited by Interfax as saying Friday. The company said the previous day it was unable to confirm that equipment at the Sasovo data center in the Ryazan region could be restored after an attack, the news service reported.

Russian forces have targeted a number of major data centers in Kyiv in the past few weeks, while dozens of people have been killed this week alone in strikes on Ukrainian cities.

The Sasovo data center has operated since 2014 and also houses two of Yandex’s three supercomputers, which are used to train neural networks. The data center in Kaluga is one of Yandex’s largest and supports the company’s internal infrastructure as well as Yandex Cloud. It isn’t clear what exactly was damaged.

Yandex’s main consumers on Thursday were only moderately affected, according to local media. The outages were more serious for some Yandex Cloud customers whose resources were hosted in the affected zone. Cian, a Russian online real estate platform, reported disruptions to its website and app, while some property developers, shops and electronic document management providers also reported service problems.
