Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari imposed a state of emergency in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province ruled by jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's party, the president's office said on Sunday, effectively suspending the provincial government. Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023. He says the cases against him are politically motivated, an accusation the government denies.
