Micro Devices Inc.’s Lisa Su predicted “very high” chip demand continuing for the next few years, even as the industry faces challenges such as concerns over AI’s safety.

Even with increases in AMD’s output, demand is outpacing supply, the chief executive officer told reporters in Taipei on Tuesday. She also urged the top artificial intelligence companies to cooperate on ensuring the technology causes no harm.

Su’s optimism reinforces bullish views from across the AI industry, including a robust outlook by US memory chipmaker Micron Technology Inc. and better-than-expected quarterly sales from server assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Still, some investors are growing increasingly concerned about industry overcapacity, rising debt levels and regulatory setbacks.

“We have also increased our own supply and capacity in 2026, but I can say that the demand is even higher than our supply,” Su said during her trip to visit supply chain partners including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. “We are going to substantially increase our supply in 2027, but we can definitely use more.”The Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker hit a trillion-dollar market capitalization last month after Meta Platforms Inc.’s new AI agent stoked enthusiasm for companies making central-processing units, or CPUs, which are required to power such applications.

AMD competes with the likes of Intel Corp. in CPUs and is also a major challenger to Nvidia Corp. in AI accelerators, chips that make training of algorithms possible. The chipmaker recently agreed to acquire AI startup World Labs for $8.2 billion to help bolster its technology muscle and allow it to provide a variety of models to customers.

On Tuesday, Su said AI is “incredibly good for the world.”While she said she doesn’t believe AI will harm humans as some have suggested, she urged for cooperation among the industry to ensure that and said the Trump administration’s new Super Intelligence Force is an important step forward in such efforts.

“There will be some work that needs to be done on safety and innovation, and I think the most important part of this is that we work together as an ecosystem,” Su said. The goal is “to ensure that we have both very capable AI as well as very safe AI.”
