A social media account affiliated with China’s official broadcaster signaled Beijing is prepared to act if the European Union introduces new trade restrictions after reaching an agreement limiting imports of Chinese hybrid vehicles.
中国中央电视台“玉渊潭天”账号周二在一篇贴文中表示，中国将要求欧盟落实该协议。
China will require the EU to implement the deal, the China Central Television’s Yuyuantantian account said in a post Tuesday.
该账号称：“中方保留在世贸组织框架下采取争端解决和要求贸易补偿的一切权利。”“如果欧方在谈判中又搞‘新把戏’，中方预留的反制措施也绝不是‘摆设’。”
“China reserves all rights to resort to dispute settlement and demand trade compensation within the WTO framework,” it said. “If the EU introduces new tricks while negotiating, China’s reserved measures will not be merely for show.”
一名欧盟高级官员周一表示，欧盟将从12月起把中国混合动力汽车进口量限制在每年35万辆，配额每年增加6%。北京方面尚未证实具体的上限，仅表示该安排允许在去年30.2万辆的出货量基础上有所增加。
The EU will cap Chinese hybrid imports at 350,000 a year from December, with the quota increasing 6% annually, a senior EU official said Monday. Beijing hasn’t confirmed the precise cap, saying only that the arrangement allows an increase from the 302,000 units shipped last year.
中国商务部周一表示，该协议将确保中国企业的“出口空间和稳定增长”，并防止贸易紧张局势升级。商务部并称，任何安排都必须符合世界贸易组织规则，并保留寻求贸易补偿等权利。
China’s Commerce Ministry said Monday the agreement would ensure “export space and steady growth” for Chinese companies and prevent trade tensions from escalating. Any arrangement must comply with World Trade Organization rules, it said, reserving rights including seeking trade compensation.

The Tuesday warning accompanied a rebuttal of claims that the arrangement would cut Chinese hybrid vehicle exports to Europe by more than half. That calculation compared the agreement with projected exports, rather than the 2025 baseline used in more than 30 rounds of negotiations, the account said.
欧盟首席贸易谈判代表马罗什·谢夫乔维奇此前曾表示，该协议将使混合动力汽车流入该市场的数量从2026年预计的约80万辆减少一半以上。
The bloc’s chief trade negotiator, Maros Sefcovic, previously said the agreement would more than halve the flow of hybrids into the market from around 800,000 expected in 2026.
