European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic said additional efforts are needed to ensure the full application and proper implementation of the Customs Union between the EU and Türkiye, including its application across all member states.

Sefcovic told the EU-Türkiye Business Summit in Brussels that deepening trade relations and modernizing the Customs Union should remain key priorities for both sides.

"There is still more work to be done," said Sefcovic, stressing that ensuring the "complete application and proper implementation" of the Customs Union, including its application to all member states, was a key requirement.

He said modernizing the Customs Union, including expanding the scope of the preferential trade framework to boost trade and investment, could further strengthen economic ties between Türkiye and the EU.

Sefcovic described value chain integration as a joint strategic objective, saying closer cooperation would bring "clear and visible" benefits to both sides.

He added that the efforts could accelerate trade growth, investment flows and supply chain integration.
在强调现有经济联系的力量时，塞夫科维奇表示，欧盟与土耳其之间的货物贸易已达到超过2170亿欧元（2420亿美元）的纪录，而服务贸易超过420亿欧元。
Highlighting the strength of existing economic ties, Sefcovic said trade in goods between the EU and Türkiye had reached a record of more than €217 billion ($242 billion), while trade in services exceeded €42 billion.
