TEL AVIV—Masked Israeli settlers attacked a group of European diplomats in the West Bank on Saturday, part of a pattern of escalating violence in the occupied territory that is straining Israel’s relations with the West.

In its statement, Israel’s military said the European officials had not coordinated their visit to the West Bank, which it said was “important to prevent incidents of this kind.”Netanyahu’s main opponent in the election, former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, said violence in the West Bank amounted to “Jewish terror” and endangers national security.

The Post said the photographer, Heidi Levine, was knocked to the ground, repeatedly kicked and robbed of her belongings.
