Ms. Slotkin, who has presidential ambitions, has been one of the leading Democrats in promising to investigate what she calls the corruption of the Trump Administration. We don’t recall her criticizing Hunter Biden’s attempts to cash in on Joe Biden’s Presidency. But her double standard doesn’t mean she’s wrong about investigating the various Trump family business deals since 2025. They deserve the scrub they will no doubt get in the next Congress.

But Ms. Slotkin is going further, essentially promising a scorched-earth lawfare campaign that goes after all and sundry, including what she calls “people who enabled” Mr. Trump. Apparently she means even 20-something minions who might think a job in politics or government is worth trying.

This is where the multiple prosecutions that Democrats unleashed against Mr. Trump in the Biden years are taking us. Mr. Trump is retaliating with similar attempts to criminalize political differences. And now Ms. Slotkin is vowing more of the same. Down this road lies more bitterness and political dysfunction.
