On Saturday, demonstrators returned to Tirana’s main boulevard and marched through the city. The building housing the Environment Ministry went up in flames after Molotov cocktails were lobbed through its doors, according to a local news report. The police tried to disperse the crowd with water cannons and tear gas.

Instead, the protesters changed course toward the headquarters of the governing Socialist Party near Skanderbeg Square in central Tirana. There, they clashed with police officers in riot gear guarding the building.
