The UAE is contending with an oil spill off its shores, the most visible example of the risks of attacks on tankers and a threat to an already fragile tourist season. Beaches are closed across the northern UAE, including in Ras Al Khaimah, where the Wynn Al Marjan Island is set to open next year. In the days before the spill was announced, residents complained of fuel-like odors pervading areas of Dubai and north.
